Ivory icing overlaid with moulded lace applique, trimmed with soft pink ribbon and brooch detail, topped with a cluster of sugar roses and hydrangea. For this design we revived the Victorian tradition of a ‘cake pull’, this custom is still popular in America. It consists of silver charms on ribbons which are placed between the tiers of the wedding cake. Each charm has a different meaning, just before the cake cutting the bridesmaids each pull a ribbon to reveal their charm and its special meaning.

Thank you all. Apparently cake pulls date back to victorian times when the silver charms were actually baked in the cake, I’d never heard of it until my bride asked me the best way of doing it. I placed the charms between circles of greaseoroof paper to prevent them becoming stuck to the icing, and left the ribbons hanging down over the bottom tier, luckily the charms pulled out easily ! x
