Here’s this weekend’s cake… something a bit different to the cakes I usually make. The brief was split between an elegant, beautiful cake, and a novelty cake.

I thought it would be nice to base it on the birthday girl’s wedding colours (from a year ago) so I used a palate of silver/grey, blues and white.

The details around the side, which were hand-cut from sugarpaste, reflect the birthday girl’s likes & interests…
(From left) Bottom tier – singing/karaoke, sleeping, cocktails, potatoes and sunshine/travels.
(from left) Top tier – love/friends & family, photography, psychology and mail.

The cake was white chocolate cake filled with white chocolate buttercream and raspberry preserve, with a top tier of spiced carrot cake filled with vanilla buttercream and decorated with sugar flowers.
