This was my first attempt at an open book cake. It was made from chocolate fudge cake and I made a base from cardboard and then covered it in sugarpaste to create the book cover and spine.
I made a snitch, hedwig the owl, wand and glasses from gumpaste and then added a sugarpaste tie once the cake was completed. The message was hand painted in order to create a Harry potter- type font.
