So, this is where the ruffle/fabric flowers landed. I have some time this winter and am hoping to experiment with cake, working on new skills & the types of cakes I do. This time around I revisited techniques I’ve done before, throwing them onto a tiered cake. The colours seem to have been lost in translation through the camera lens, but that has more to do with my lighting/camera issues than anything else! (I reversed the pictures, the original one made the cake look anemic! :/) My first letter to Santa has been sent, asking him nicely for a new camera, here’s hoping he starts a Christmas in July thing. :)

Anyhoo, this is the 3rd cake I’ve done the crimping effect on, I’m afraid it won’t be the last. I’ve come to love it, but I promise to try to control myself. :/ (I learned this from a book by Toba Garrett that I bought when I first started attempting cakes …. the name of the book is in my ‘Love Birds’ post, I really should know that by now.) I decided to make the crimping two-toned this time around, and asymmetrical once again.

My mouth has been watering this week with so many delicious sounding cakes, I’m afraid this one cannot offer the same. It is a delectable Styrofoam base, filled with Styrofoam, iced in Styrofoam and covered in fondant and fondant accents. Yum.

Thank you all for looking. ;)
