I am delighted & excited to say I won a *SILVER AWARD *for my Italian Wedding Cake I entered into Cakes International at the NEC this November 2013.

It is all royal iced and ALL hand painted directly onto the royal iced surfaces. the grapes and leaves I made from sugarpaste. the bride and groom is sugarpaste. I got an excellent crit from the judges but they did say that my royal icing is not great which was what marked me down… so back to the practise board for me as it has to be right, they are very strict in the marking.
I have to say I did throw caution to the wind whilst doing it as creativity I loved making this, even though it is rather eclectic.

Wow, a real tour de force, wonderful painting and congratulations on your award. Regarding your icing which looks fine to me, you should have told them ,“that is what a stucco wall looks like”! Although I am sure that it wasn’t that bad!! I hope that you and your family have a very Happy Christmas. xx
