Topic tags/keywords: question discussion hobby Hi all, This question was on my mind when I first joined cake decor. Really fascinated to see so many fellow forumers showcasing their wonderful bakes. Just curious how did you get started ? For me, I took up a lesson on cake decorating and never looked back. What about you? =) -- Promises to wow you over at http://mydearbakes.wordpress.com =) |

Hi, we must be kindred souls because that’s exactly what I did – I took a Wilton lesson “just because” and fell in love with the process. I’m enjoying the journey… -- DJ - Funfetticakes |

for me, it all started on a dare . . . yep . . . a dare :-) The husband dared my sister & I to make a cake look like a turkey. It was far from perfect but we did it & it sparked something and snowballed from there. -- https://www.facebook.com/pages/Slice-of-Sweet-Art/370475359633432 |

I always loved baking and decorating when I was younger but I had only ever seen grocery store cakes before. I had NO idea what could be done with cakes! I started watching shows like cake boss and ace of cakes and I just knew that I wanted to try and makes cakes like that. So with the money from my 19th birthday I went out and I bought a wilton class kit and some other items and started to teach myself. Having never took a class it has been quite the adventure but I am so love I don’t think I will ever look back! -- Nikki, So Cal, www.Facebook.com/nikkibelleperchecakes |

I just started caking when my youngest was baptized..I want a very specific design for her cake and had to pay alot :D <well>no classes or school attended because I have no time ..I have 2 young kids <4> so I just always watch tutorials and how to’s on the internet..and on my daugthers 1st birthday I made her a personalized cake…6 cakes! and was very happy about it..never stop since then.Llast Christmas a friend asked me to make fruitcakes for her as a give away for her officemates..then it became a business.Every finished cake amazes me and I always say to myself..I can’t believe I did it! :D |

I bought a cake for my one year old daughter and thought – “I could do that”. Then when I ordered a christening cake which had a frill around it that defied gravity – that was it. I had to learn how to do this. So I set about learning first novelty cakes at evening classes which I loved – because you had to design them from nothing and then went on to learn City & Guilds Sugarcraft – all the time I was making party and wedding cakes. I loved it. Creating edible art. But then I moved onwards to combine my Sugarcraft skills with my business coaching and small business skills and CakeCoachOnline was born. I am passionate about using my creative skills now to make products especially to help the sugarcraft industry. -- Karen MacFadyen - London UK - http://www.facebook.com/cakecoachonline http://www.cakecoachonline.com |
