What fondant do you use???

I have been buying the asda fondant and it seems fine and always does the job but was wondering about other makes. Are other more expensive fondant easier to use? What do you use please?

I use fondx fondant to cover my cakes. I did try a more expensive fondant once and it was nice but I think price does not always mean better. I like the fondx and have learned how to use it so I get a great cover every time. I also found that if I use the mat from sweetwise to roll my fondant I have better results. Hope this helps and good luck.

My covering of cakes is getting better just wondered if the make of fondant made a big difference in the covering. I have also found if I add colour to my white fondant the cakes cover ace (weird). :-) Thank you though Prima

I think the make of fondant is really important, I’ve used a store bought brand and it was horrible. I tried fondarific but didn’t really like that either (even though a lot of people swear by it). I used satin ice for the first time a couple weeks ago and really like it, you should try a few brands because you will find one that will suit you and make covering cakes more easier.

I make my own. However, I buy Satin Ice for red and black, and add some of my own to it. It’s just too much of a pain to try to make black or red with homemade marshmallow fondant. I like my own much better than the fondant I have purchased… better flavor, and easier to handle.

All mmf. Even the red n black. Pain the A, but I think really worth it for the taste and the cost. Bugger on the wrists though!!

I’ve tried FondX (US), Renshaw (UK), Pasedkor (Turkish), and Pasta Dama (Italian) because these are the only brands I have access to and I have to say, Pasta Dama was the best and worked well in all weather; unfortunately, they don’t carry it here anymore because it is more expensive than the others!!

I have switched to FondX. It is easy to work with and the flavor is better than some others I’ve tried.

Thank you very much will try some others x x

I make my own, but have some Satin Ice on hand if I don’t feel like it. I was recently given a updated MMF recipe by my friend Goreti. It’s Michelle Fosters MMF recipe. Michelle takes her homemade MMF and mixes it with a cheap brand of fondant, like Wilton. But I think any cheap brand would work. Haven’t tried it yet, but think I will for my next cake.
