I had made a few butter cream covered cakes for friends since I was a teen (bought the sponge and the frosting!) then in 2012 I made a cake for a friends daughter... Who then posted it on facebook.

And the rest they say is history! I was sucked right in to the awesome world of cake-making, saying YES to everything!- loving the challenges, the opportunity to create and the feeling of pride in my work. Moreso with cake making than with any other job I've had.

I also love the networking, connecting with like-minded creative people all over the world - mostly of whom want to share their knowledge and experiences. It's such a thrill to be acknowledged by these artists that I view to be celebrities!

I love looking at and being inspired by people's art, it's gobsmacking the talent that's out there innit?!

Thank you so much for coming over and saying hi on Facebook Mardie, your cakes are stunning, hard to believe you’ve only been ‘caking’ properly for such a short time. I also used to buy sponge from the shops to decorate! ;) Funny how things change! Xx

Edit (for another 45 minutes)

Yes they keep me very busy! Boys aged 11, 8 and 6 and a fiesty girl of 3!

Centre or WA, you should get back to it, such great exercise and I love the feeling of being part of a team :) Sadly I have been out of action since April when I tore my anterior cruciate ligament :( having an op to correct it in a couple of weeks but am worried I won’t ever get back to my beloved netball…will have to see how it heals…

Also being surrounded by cake all day and not doing any exercise has done very little for my physical condition! Haha!
