Thank you for posting this one. I so agree with you.

So glad to see this.

I so agree with you, thanks for addressing this issue!

Marlene - CakeHeaven

thank you…thank you….thank you for addressing this issue. very much agree.

Creativity is God's gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God. Clarky's Cakes 😎

Totally agree… And I take it even further when asked to do these kinds of cakes… Which I have several times… And it’s a flat no xx

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits

I totally agree, if people want to commission cakes that are of adult content that’s fine. A jobs a job, and what people choose to ask to be made in cake form can be very odd and sometimes disturbing (there’s no accounting for taste). But I wouldn’t dream of posting them for all the world to see myself. I also find it hard to look at the more graphic horror theme cakes, or cakes designed to shock (that’s just me), but still I can’t deny the skill levels are often second to none.

Right on point, girl! I agree, absolutely!

Phewwww great to see this being addressed!! I loathe seeing these cakes! Have no problem with them being made but just hate having to see them on my screen and covering up my daughters face!!

Well said, Sharon! Totally agree with you on this! CD is not the place to showcase such disgusting cake designs. Thank you for addressing this issue!

Another in total agreement!

Zoe, Zoepop's Cakes www.facebook.com/zoepopscakes

I have never been asked to do such a cake thankfully, but I would refuse to do so, I can’t stand the bad taste cakes, I can’t think of anything worse than pubic icing not sure I could eat it myself. My children love looking through the cakes on here I feel reassured that they will be safe in doing so. Thanks.

Elizabeth Miles Cake Design

I completely agree and I hope I am never asked to make one. Besides, those booby cakes make me feel insecure! lol!! ;-D xx

Julia Hardy

Totally agree

tee hee Sharon, you are a lark – I’ve obviously missed something ‘explicit’ in my absence! Actually, I was asked to make a ‘tasteful nude’ last year based on an oil painting by a famous painter which, to my total surprise, I enjoyed making for the artistry experimental side of it (no proper naughty bits to speak of and the lady was face down with a little bottom ‘exposed’…) but I have never posted it on here for that very reason – respect and all that! courses for horses… To be honest, I hesitated before posting it on FB and braced myself for an onslaught of abuse, prepared to remove it instantly but thankfully that didn’t happen – I guess it must have sneaked inside the ‘reasonably decent’ barrier !! Julia Hardy, you are so funny, that really made me laugh!!! :) :) xx

I have seen your cake Fiona and it is art.. but people make things that have nothing to do with art just in bad taste.. There is a difference between a Michelangelo and a nude painted on Black velvet .. :( you can pick up at the gas station :(

Dubey Cakes

well Bethann, that is a relief to hear (I hate to offend anyone!! Nevertheless, I am still nervous about posting it here though!). Well, I didn’t see the ‘cake in question’ so I can’t have an opinion, but I get the gist!! xx

Thank you so much for addressing this issue, have seen some hideous cakes on here. I also agree with Karen, I dislike the graphic horror cakes, despite the level of skill, actually makes me feel a bit sick.

Thank you!!!

Thank you all for understanding on this matter. I have done only one with naked boobies and even went as far to give her nipple rings but it was for breast cancer and was raffled off to raise money. I am like others I do not mind if you make these cakes but totally hold nothing against anyone who makes them. Money is money and if you have it in you to make them then I am all for it but just not to post here that is all. Now I love a good horror cake and love to make them but I do try to put in my title what you might expect. So if you see someone with a post that says “zombie” or “hooked” in it then I would stay away but seeing one that says “happy willy” might not necessarily tip people off, lol…just saying!
Post your naughty cakes on your own pages please, not on here…just out of respect for others. We will support you in every other way!

Tampa, Florida facebook.com/pages/curiaussiety-custom-cakes

I agree! I never make them…. It’s not that I’m a puritein but I simply don’t like it :)

All my cakes are made to make you and me smile!

Totally agree they should be put onto another page where peeps are interested in seeing these type of cakes. You can’t get me off quick enough when they appear!

Carol https://www.facebook.com/CakesByCarolPeterborough

I have been so in doubt about commenting this. I read it once, twice… I waited for other people comments. And reading all comments I thought “let it go”.

First of all I must say that I want to be totally respectful and don’t want to bother anyone. Maybe I don’t understand english well… or maybe it’s that I come from other culture but I must say something.

I don’t agree.

First of all I would never address quickly about something like that, that’s not an obvious or easy subject. There’re so many points to talk about and for me is not that easy to say black or white.

Let me explain myself in a few points:
1. I can’t understand the problem about nudity. The human body is the more natural thing and we come nude to this world for some reason… the embarrassment about our nude bodies and the sexual connotations among them are only a problem of naughty thinking. The children has’t that kind of thinking, so they does not see the things bad like you.
Your children sees a breast? Ok, is just a breast… doesn’t have any relevance for them until you relieve that it has, that’s not natural.

2. Nudity is allowed from classic art and even we can see it in churches. I hope not to necessarily talk about the miles of examples of wonderful artworks with explicit nudity.

3. This was supposed to be a specific cake decorators social media. So It’s supposed that the cake decorators are adult. And if you want to show something to your children filter it previously, its your duty filter it, not the rest of the worlds duty.

4. Bad taste… let me point that the taste is something subjective and more cake designs are ugly without containing any naughty intention far from the intention to do it… and we aren’t prohibiting any bad taste cake aren’t we?

5. Naughty… I made a sexy cake (I tried) and I wanted to share it with you. I hope I haven’t do wrong. I named it “Life is a cabaret” you can see it at my cakes gallery. But I really think that if it’s a problem for some people to see it maybe we could just tag it or add the “sexy” word as first word in the title to warn other people that does not want to see that.

Anyway I hope you delete my cake if you consider that’s not the kind of cake that should be in here. And of course I won’t upload anymore naughty cakes, of course there’re other places to share them if I decide to make more.

Daniel Diéguez Cake Artist

Daniel, thank you for sticking your neck out and writing this on here. Separating ‘art’ from ‘porn’ isn’t always easy (as you say, these things are in the eye of the beholder). We all loved your cabaret cake and it wasn’t offensive in the least, so keep ‘em coming! Your artistry is such an inspiration. There was a blog on a FB page recently about a baby cake. For some reason, ’people cakes’ are ok but baby cakes get people going! I think it is a problem when it comes to cutting it that a lot don’t like.

Anyway, three cheers to freedom of speech!

hugs xx

I had a client who is a very nice person, but I was asked to make 60 vagina cupcakes and well I turned down the order.. I think we are talking more about this Daniel.. <3 < 3

Dubey Cakes

I couldn’t agree more!
These Words are like Music to my ears.
There is a forum, where I have been active for many years now: I still have not opened the link to the “anathomical” cakes there, I find them disgusting, all of them.
So thank You for what you’re writing! :)

Totally agree, my grandchildren love looking on CD

ellie's elegant cakery

Daniel you are always allowed to express your opinion here and it should be able to be heard without fear of others. I think we realize that many countries embrace nudity much more than others but we feel just as TV and other forms of media have rules on what can be shown we would also like to keep those rules in place here also.
I am a big one for monitoring what my children get to see and I even have Net Nanny on all my computers and Ipads for these very reasons. Unfortunately I have to disable that to view cakesdecor. I do not think that should have to be the case. I also agree that there are sometimes many more things offensive than just nudity and that beauty or what some find offensive is to each individual. But we however have to try to cover the majority of who post on here. Tags are great and we should all try to make our titles and tags reflect what we are showing but again this comes down to each individual and so not all make these things correct!
I do believe there is a big difference in showing a magnificent piece of art and penis cake however. But I guess all is subjective.
We are not trying to deny anyone freedom to be themselves, but like most places we go there are usually rules and these just happen to be the ones we would like our members to try and adhere to. I don’t think we are asking too much from others. Michal has provided us with a wonderful site to share on so I think sticking to just a few basic rules should be expected. We love your work Daniel and respect your decisions and points of view on the world as that is what makes us all so wonderful is our differences. All we ask is that this rule be respected here

Ugh I really really dislike those types of cakes, they are vile to see.. Totally agre with you!

Thanks but someone posted one today

Totally agree Sharon….I am so glad you addressed this issue. Thank you for putting a stop to it, I refuse to make them and don’t want to see them either on CD either.

Enchanting Merchant Co

Thank you! I never judge a decorator who does this type of cake, just something I won’t do and don’t really care to see.

Shirley

Fine line between art and distasteful…. and I have seen a few distasteful ones too!! This is of particular interest to me right now (re this discussion) as I am currently working on something that is tasteful and artistic but adult content. Whether I post it here remains another matter.
Daniel, I’m pleased you raised your points…Im a hardened experienced artist and my creative head agrees… I do not take offence but am rather sensitive to what might offend people when sensitive material goes public.
I have worked in the art industry for many many years. Nudity in the name of ART is something I am very familiar as I have done nude paintings and drawings that span back 40 years. I sure enjoyed creating tasteful nude art. The human form is beautiful and has always hold a fascination for me through the eyes of an artist.
SO like Sharon says, its kids and some other sensitive people who you don’t really want them to see this. Yes, keep it tasteful and be aware of your audience
At the end of the day… well, there is always the motto one can adopt… “if you don’t like it, don’t look” …. but as far as kids are concerned, best to keep it clean if they are at risk being exposed to it. so for them, some sacrifices need to me made.

I agree and like Calli, I would just simply decline.

Sugarpatch Cakes

Thank you!

enticing-icing.com

I totally agree!!

I’m very open-minded and not remotely prudish but have noticed every time I log in there is another genitalia cake. I agree with Daniel and Calli above and understand there is a difference between art and distasteful. I don’t consider penis cakes to be art and wonder why someone would publish them on here? I thought they were supposed to be removed by the admin?
