Brushes. Tool review competition

I love to paint on cakes. So my fave tool/s are brushes. I own a lot and lot of brushes. I think i have over hundred. I’m always buying brushes. I think it’s an addiction. Here’s a small selection. The smallest I have is 000. It’s very thin and tiny. I use it to paint eyebrows and very thin lines.

The first 2 from the right are overused and have become fluffy. lol. So I use them for dusting.

Yes…brushes are essential…especially for painting and figure work. I went to a figure making demo, and the teacher spent $100 on just one brush…her prized possession….

$100 dollars on 1 brush? Wow. Mine range from 2.50 eur, which have a limitied life span, to 25 eur the most expensive one

Oh yes Jono…. Great tools!!!!
My brushes I’m so fussy with!!! My most favourite tool for sure…
Never spent $100 on a brush, but do have some sable ones that I treasure and covet that weren’t cheap at ALL!!! My smallest is 00000 hahaha…

Yup JT…I remember choking a little and thinking yikes!!! She is a well known gumpaste figure artist from Argentina. She stressed spending good money on brushes, obviously, and not buying cheap. My good decorator friend, also teaches watercolour painting, and she’s never spent that much on any brush. Buys good quality brushes from an Artists supply store. And your right JT…eventually, no matter how much you’ve spent, even with great care, the brushes wear out and have to be replaced…

Spending money on a good brush is never wasted. I use mainly sable hair Windsor and Newton… They do several series. Not cheap, but last longer with beautiful tips. . But I’d keep my $100 brush under lock and key June. Hahaha.
I’m OCD with brush care, so important. Xx

Of course Cali, you being a painter, brushes are very important to you. Actually, I did manage to get a couple of sable brushes on sale at the Artists supply shop. There hidden away from my hubby. More than once, he’s wandered into my cakey area and grabbed a brush for gluing something he’s working on in his workshop. To say I was a little perturbed was a mild understatement.

I love brushed too Jon, and I have quite a collection. Maybe I should actually try painting with some of them! I have some that I have used for applying silver or gold color dust, and as much as I wash them, I still see flecks of the color dust on them.
