Another essential for me. I use the small silicone mat for all my small fondant & gumpaste work. Sticks to my counter, doesn’t move around. Easy to wipe clean and transport. The larger silicone mat is my answer to rolling out larger pieces of fondant. Replaced “The Mat”. Doesn’t buckle, sticks to your counter, doesn’t wrinkle, easy to clean, and I can pick it up and take it to the cake and fondant peels off easily just like The Mat. It’s so much lighter, less cumbersome and easier to care for than The Mat.

I am probably the only peron in “cake land” to not like using the mat for rolling out cake fondant. Never thought about trying it for gumpaste though…. will try it next time.

I was given one, but struggled with it as no strength in my hands for pressure so gave it away, but have seen how well they work at demos
You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits
Julez, I don’t use a mat either, although I do have one!!! Must give it a try!

I had a silicone mat but found it stuck to my fondant and wouldn’t peel off! I sold it in the end.. Maybe it’s the type of fondant I use…
I use silicon mat too :)
I keep meaning to invest in these but haven’t got round to it yet. It’s time to take the leap. Thanks June. xx
