Does anyone know of a device that would be like a frame with stands on either side of the cake, that would allow us to slide a straight edge across and be perfectly level every time? I use the straight edge with the level on it, but what I envision would be so easy… one swipe and BAM! Level! It would be the same principle as the rings on the ends of the rolling pins. If there isn’t such a device, maybe I should have my husband create one and patent it! Lol!

With the “upside-down” method, it’s possible to get a perfectly level top and only worry about the edges. This method works with ganache and buttercream and is great!

I agree with Minh. I use the upside down method all the time.

^ I’ve tried Avalon’s method and I think it’s great <3
Does the upside down method work with butter icing as well as it does with ganache!?
Heaven in paper cups!
I use the upside down methos with buttercream and ganache – exact same process for me! Love the level tops and crisp edges!
