I was given this order by a friend to create a tiered cake for a party to welcome home a newborn baby girl, there were no restrictions or design details provided by the client. The only thing he mentioned was that the cake had to be mostly pink, girly and should have an edible baby topper.
All four layers are cake and no dummies were used, three layers of red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and one big layer of chocolate and vanilla with chocolate ganache and crumb coated with Italian meringue vanilla buttercream.
I set out to make this cake with no design/idea, I knew that I wanted to put in a bow and some flower details, and a lot of airbrushing to give the gradient from golden yellow to pink.
I’ve used the First Impressions baby mold for the baby topper made out of gum paste.
I loved making this cake, and it’s absolutely one of my all time favorite creations.
