This was my entry for Cake International in Birmingham, entered into the decorative category she does not need to contain any cake in the structure, however all external modelling materials must be edible.

Sculpted in sugarpaste and with ricepaper wings she stands over 1 meter high from the base, with the angel being around 50cm or so high. She stands on a dragee and glitter encrusted cloud that took two days just to stick the dragees on, much more of an issue than I expected, they kept rolling over each other and falling off.

I am particularly pleased with how the fabric developed and how the wings turned out, many people thinking I had actually used feathers.

The angel is dedicated to my sister in law who recently passed away

Oh and I was very proud to win a gold for her :)

You did so well. I loved all the detail on the clouds, must have taken 100’s of hours, and I particularly love her little foot peaking out under her gown xx
