My friend wanted a special cake for her daughter’s Sweet Sixteen party. She gave me design freedom, only asking that it be an ombre purple, starting light at the top & getting darker at the bottom.

I thought it would be beautiful to contrast pearlized ivory decor on the purple, & had an idea that I had been looking for an opportunity to create. So I blended the two & just love the result! Purple is my favorite color! My only complaint is that the airbrush purple colors fade more to the blue side after a while, & I wanted it more violet-lavender.

The top tier is chocolate mud with salted caramel buttercream filling & milk chocolate ganache. The bottom tier is red velvet cake with cream cheese buttercream filling & white chocolate ganache. The large pearls are Sixlets, small sugar pearls, & all other decor is fondant. Gumpaste initials topper.
