I fell in love with the Isabella lace mould, and basically designed the wedding cake around the lace, and I wasn’t disappointed… I think the lace is just stunning!
To give the cake more grandeur I had two tiers of cake below the birdcage, which I covered in a mocha coloured fondant to accentuate the gorgeous white lace. Again, I didn’t want to hide the lace behind lots of flowers, so I kept these to a minimum and toned them in the vintage shades of pink. I made one statement rose in the beautiful ombre colours….thank you to Tracey James from Cotton & Crumbs for making such beautiful cakes and roses – she is a constant source of inspiration!
This is my 4th birdcage wedding cake, and I love making them. I can’t wait to make one for a birthday…in gorgeous bright fun colours…such a pity I have 3 boys – I don’t think I could ever con them into having a birdcage cake for their birthday :-S
