This was a surprise cake for my Mum’s friend. It’s Waitangi day today in NZ, so it’s a public holiday and everyone is at the beach. My Mum’s friend (also known as my fairy godmother) decided to celebrate her special day at the beach, so I made a cake to match!
It’s a white chocolate and mixed summer berries cake. This is also the first ever hexagonal cake i’ve made, if they didn’t take so long to cover with ganache I would make this fun shape all the time…or maybe i’m just too used to icing round cakes, hmm…will see how I go with the next one that comes along ;-)

Gorgeous, the flavour sounds so yummy too…I know what you mean about the hex shape I love it but so time consuming to ganache
So it’s not just me hahaha (maybe partially because I’ve never done it before). I thought I’d try something more ‘summery’ for flavour. Thank you for your continuous encouragement Jo :)
Sounds so yummy, white chocolate with mixed summer berries ;-))) Mouth watering stuff… Love your cake, love the shape, very nicely done!!!

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits
Wow! I love the bright colours of the sea creatures, a lot of ‘sea’ themed cakes are white, navy and red which is really lovely and classic but this is different, bringing in all those colours and tied together so nicely. Very well done!
