I have had the opportunity to participate in the Challenge-Collaboration for the 500 years of commemoration of death Leonardo da Vinci one of the greatest geniuses in history.
Leonardo died on May 2, 1519 at age 67 and it is for this reason that this tribute has been made within the Sugar Artist community organized by Raquel García and María Mercedes Gonzalez of the Bakerswood Facebook group.
I invite you to see all the collaboration entering Leonardo Da Vinci Challenge there are really incredible works, I hope you like and are encouraged to comment, share and give likes of support. in order to reach more and more people. Let’s social networks a place where you share a lot of art and what better if it is edible: D
About my painting:
I chose San Juan Bautista, which was one of the last paintings of the Italian Renaissance painter, the date of its elaboration dates from 1508-1513, time when the High Renaissance was metamorphosing into Mannerism. The original work was painted in oil on board measuring 69 cm high and 57 cm wide. It is preserved in the Louvre Museum in Paris. (Extract taken from Wikipedia).
My work is done on fondant with edible paints and egg yolk to make the tempera paint like the old masters did. It can not achieve the “sfumato or difuminado” which is the technique that the painter used to give the realistic aspect, I did it with my expressionist style, which is much more avant-garde.
It was a challenge to achieve the hair and its texture and in the end I think I did not achieve it.
