This is my contribution to the Beautiful Sri Lanka – A Cake Collective Collaboration 💕
For my piece I focused on classical Sri Lanka Kandyan dances. The Kandyan dances and drumming is highly sophisticated and refined Sri Lanka’s iconic performing art. It flourished under the Kandyan kings from the 16th through the 19th centuries, and today it is considered the national dance of Sri Lanka. The most spectacular performances can be seen in a religious context, particularly during the annual Kandy Perahera procession in the city of Kandy. I was inspired mainly by dancers and drummers distinctive and eye catching costumes and by traditional drumms which are use during Kandyan dance performance. My piece was created using Renshaw fondant and Saracino modelling paste.
