I really enjoyed making these shells for the #sugarpirates collaboration at Cake International this year. A group of very talented artists created a fabulous display table and won Best Group! It was a pleasure to be amongst them.
The shells were sculpted around a polystyrene drum and this was supported by a threaded metal rod and MDF boards, covered in foil tape. I hadn’t planned to make them so large, or to even have them on top of each other, but you know how these things can evolve…😂
I used modelling chocolate to sculpt them, and painted/dusted them with edible colours.
I love shells, particularly the Nautilus shell, so it was great fun to make.
