Steam Cakes 2018 Edition – A Steampunk Collaboration, hosted by Carla Rodrigues.

I was mulling over designs for the new international collaboration in the morning. Austin was having his coffee by my side and I was staring at his familiar contours of his face when the idea of making a wearable steampunk ensemble hit me. I must have been staring at him for too long, he mistook the look and got carried away ☺️.

The mask and the hat together would be around 5kg and the shoot was taking predictably long period of time, taking a toll on his neck muscles, not to mention his fear of spiders… He never complained but the clown was making faces throughout the shoot which made the process even longer. My brother Johan wouldn’t give up until he gets the perfect frame – thank you Johan, your clicks makes the ensemble come alive. The top part of the hat is chocolate cake and we cut it while Austin Bobby Vadayatt was wearing it. 😂Good fun at the shoot. Photography courtesy: Johan Vadayatt
