This is my contribution to the 150 Cake and Sugar Art Collaboration. Thanks to Joanne Spence of Special Occasion Cakes etc for creating the collaboration.
Wasn’t given a big timeline to create this cake..a few weeks. I was working on 2 other cakes at the same time, so I kept my piece simple. I new I wanted iconic Canadian images. There is a wolf, canoe & paddle and field lacrosse player with his long stick. Both wolf and lacrosse player are hand drawn. Lacrosse was a huge part of our lives as my son played from age 5 through university. Gumpaste wheat for the Prairies. Stripes of a Hudson Bay blanket, rope of the Navy & Calgary Stampede. On back..Canada 150 tulip, Niagara Falls, Hudson Bay blanket squares, Moose and last but not least, a Canadian flag.
