I stepped way out of my comfort zone on this one and I feel like it was worth it. I’ve been asked to put the “Cape Hatteras Lighthouse” on many of cakes. (It’s where I live, I can see the beacon at night from my living room!)
Usually, I would have iced this cake with a traditional shell border, cut a 2-D lighthouse out of fondant, added some white chocolate, milk chocolate marbled seashells and moved on.
This is a 1/2 sheet cake, dirty iced and then textured and piped buttercream design.
I used disposable piping bags for the background (the lighthouse was piped with a tip #2 and small star tip) The rest was just piped with a snipped tip of a piping bag. I’m happy with how it turned out.
Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.

This is beautiful, Donna, almost has a Van Gogh feel. Your love for your home comes through in all of your beach cakes (my favorite).
