We are having our annual family euchre card party get together and it’s also going to be my niece Elly’s birthday. Decided to surprise her with a cake.
Elly loves the water, any kind…oceans, lake and swimming pools. Elly was a lifeguard for years, right into adulthood. Did synchronized swimming competitively, and her full time job is now as a Synchro coach. Wanted the cake to have the feel of water, hence the waves around the bottom and the waterfall, all done with royal icing. Added a pink grapefruit water lily on a lily pad made from clay craft clay that Elly can keep. Cake is dark chocolate caramel, covered in smbc, filled with strawberry preserves and lemon/strawberry curd.
