My first attempt at buttercream flowers… I’ve been hovering around Olga’s (Zat… Zats… Oh b**. I give up. I can’t spell it) Youtube for months but had no opportunity to try some out. At last one presented and this is my offering. If you look carefully you can see where I tried to put the completed cake into a fridge shelf which was just a TEENsy bit too low…..
Cake is three layers fatless (blowaway) GF sponge (with coloured sugar stars mixed through), doused with caramel liqueur, filled and smbc’d then sides were scraped with shaped scraper. Dont ask what the flowers are.. they’re just flowers. Suffice it that they’re pretty; they don’t need to be botanically correct. This is cake- d**n it- not a reference book. They don’t look anywhere near as good as Olga’s , but then she’s had plenty of practise and this is my first go. Hers look like I want to water them – they’re so good!
My flower nail was far too small for these beauts; I had to use an upturned glass. It worked. And cost nothing.
Incidentally glutenfree cakage...
