My inspiration was a typical mask – called Waggis – from canton Basel. The „Basler Fasnacht“ is the biggest Carnival in Switzerland. It starts on Monday after Ash Wednesday and takes 72 hours. The „Morgenstraich“ on Monday at 4 o’clock in the morning marks the beginning of the Carnival. All the lights in the whole city are turned off. The only lights comes from the colorful lantern special made for the parade.

And maybe the „Basler Fasnacht“ will be on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage. A request has already been made – the decision will be made this November.
