My piece is inspired by Viktor&Rolf,Ready-to-Wear Autumn/Winter 2008-2009. I was drawn to this dramatic black and gold design for my main inspiration. I really loved the way they used black in such a bold way but with such beautiful feminine details.
I decided to mimic the short black dress in my cake design by using frilled ruffles tipped with gold on the bottom tier. I used wafer paper overlaid with gold leaf for the gold stitching on the top tiers. I loved the bright pop of color Viktor & Rolf used with the shoes and tights for the fashion show and decided to add my pop of sugar flare with large open gumpaste peonies with dramatic gold centers and deep green leaves and purple berries.
