Two-sided cake

Two-sided cake Two-sided cake

A lady I take pottery class with asked me to make a dual themed cake for her to take to her work. They are nurses and often, because of their schedules, celebrate multiple ocassions in one gathering. This time around it was a baby shower and a going away party.

I decided to do a two sided cake to incorporate the two occasions. The lady who was leaving is a golfer so I decided on a golf theme for her side of the cake. Other than the baby sneakers, this was a design as I went cake and so there are things I wish I would have done different. The argyle pattern should have been green where it is white and then the stitching white instead of green. I also should have used a finer tip for the stitching. Live and learn…. They were all thrilled with it is what matters :-)

Looks so lovely! The sneakers are so cute! 💖👍🏻

Not sure of this is the cake from what you’re describing :) but the picture is adorable xx

The Cake Duchess

I’m confused as to why some of you think the picture is wrong….. There should be three images(which I see): one of the baby shower side (“it’s a boy” with the sneakers), one from the going away/golf theme side (argyle print, golf ball in a hole with “good luck”) and the the third image is from above showing the sneakers and the golf ball. I didn’t put a divider on the top of the cake to separate the two occasions which is why there may be confusion? That or I didn’t explain it well enough or just plain failed on the execution of the cake?

I see all the pictures Kelly. Great design, and your argyle looks fine..there’s all different types of argyle. Love the whole in one and sweet shoes..
