“The wonderful world of “Beatrix Potter” tales and the celebration of her Birthday has brought together to a sweet tribute a multitude of cake design artists from different parts of the world.
I decided to recreate one of the houses Beatrix Potter lived in and I thought that Yew Tree Farm in Conniston was ideal as it shows the tranquillity which must have allowed her imagination to fly.
This is the original Yew Tree Farm
It is a Victoria sponge with lemon filling, covered in fondant I covered the fondant with few coats of white chocolate with extra white colouring, which I purposefully let dry a little, to give a rough texture of the whitewash and made a few cracks to give the walls an Olde Worlde feel. The tiles and stones are all individually made to give a really rustic feel to the house. The blades of grass snipped with scissors and the earth is chocolate cookie which I crumbled.
I had a lot of fun making this and I hope you like it.
