This was my contribution to the Royal Ascot Hats and Fashion Collaboration. Last year I saw an image of a floral hat that was a winning design by Neil Whittaker for Interflora Florist of the Year 2011, at the time I thought how wonderful it would be to be able to replicate it and this seemed the perfect opportunity. The flowers are Chinese Lanterns (physalis), rose buds and marigolds with foliage. and berries. They are all wired and made from Platinum flower paste.
The frame of the hat is tin foil covered in marzipan with cake lace ribbons and it is displayed on a millinery dummy.
