I was asked to make a cake for an elderly lady’s 80th tea birthday party, the theme was vintage tea party.

I immediately thought of roses and looking into my garden and seeing foxgloves and roses I had my theme.

I baked a traditional Victoria sponge with seedless raspberry jam and buttercream layered fillings, I made this into 7 layers so that the cake had height to it.

I used royal icing and fondant to decorate the cake
