This was my entry for the 2016 NY Cake Show. The theme was NY. I wanted to recreate a celebratory cake using all the images that scream NY to me ( a native New Yorker!) Each tier represented a different aspect of NY, the top tier being the jungle and transportation of the city, subways, taxis and all the signs and logos affiliated with that. Complete with a NY city rat and garbage!
The second tier was the city skyline celebrating the famous streets of the city and featuring the Broadway marquees. Center is a marquee showcasing the NY Cake Show! And with a NYC Rockette!
The bottom tier features all the NY sports teams complete with their fav foods, peanuts and pretzels and basketball, baseball football and hockey! the other two sides of the bottom tier feature food I think of when thinking of NY, chinese food, the famous coffee, bagels, knishes, donuts, ice cream, pizza and more!
All topped off with a Big Apple and sculpted Statue of Liberty!
The cake is meant to be seen in a 360 degree view to take in all that makes NY great!
