This is my cake interpretation of the Lord of the Rings. The client really wanted Middle Earth represented on the cake so this was done using printed edible maps. I used Legolas as the inspiration for the rest of the cake – the top tier is finished in a brush suede effect with leather straps to represent his cloak, and is finished with his back rig (made from pastillage) and arrows.

The middle tier is edible leather (a nod to the book itself) and wrapped in trailing sugar ivy.

Oh yes.. and the ring of course!

Inside is a chocolate feast – chocolate fudge cake with milk chocolate frosting and milk chocolate ganache.
