I entered Cake International in London this year for the 1st time. To say I was nervous was an understatement! I entered Novelty – a novel cake design and got a silver award! I was over the moon!
I made moules et frites. The saucepan is obviously the cake which I covered in modelling chocolate so I could blend the seam and then painted with rolkem silver dust – brilliant stuff! The bread roll and chips are made from fondant and airbrushed; the mussels are modelling paste that I moulded and then hand painted both inside and out and then glazed. The plate and bowl are also modelling paste with a hand painted design on them and the mayonnaise is actually buttercream. The onion, napkin and lemon slices are all fondant too.
Nothing went as planned but I was so pleased with the final entry.
brilliant, well done on your silver x
