The inspiration for my piece first comes from a quote I found online from ‘Your Beautiful Mindful Life’ that says “As we walk upon the earth, let us be mindful…She is a SACRED LIVING BEING”.

I have always appreciated the simple yet complicated beauty the earth has and has to offer us as human beings. I love trees for their infinite wisdom and secrets of the earth they possess from their sheer age! So I knew I wanted to have a tree element as part of my piece. I used a tree bark impression mat for the bottom tier and airbrushed the details. I’m also very partial to things that have a whimsical, fairy tale-esque feeling, so I stuck with some flowers (gumpaste), butterflies (wafer paper) and earthy textures as shown with the spun sugar for the grassy top, the moss textured middle tier (ground royal icing) and the fondant branches. The top tier is a rustic iced buttercream cake.

I hope my simple piece was able to reflect a love for the beauty of the earth.
