This is a special cake as it’s for my own Mum’s birthday and as she collects all kinds of little pottery and china birds a birdhouse with her two favorite birds was a no-brainer. Mum’s also very partial to a zeesty lemon sponge so that’s what’s under the white chocolate ganache and chocolate and fondant covering. The little birds were made from modelling paste (with a small polystyrene ball in the middle) and hand dusted and painted – so Mum can keep them with her others :)

These little birds and their house have also traveled over from UK to France yesterday for this special delivery as my parent’s live in France :)
