I chose to make a Madame Marie Curie cake because she was an absolutely amazing woman. She became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the ONLY woman to win the award in two different fields (physics and chemistry). Curie, along with her husband Pierre, led to the discovery of polonium and radium and, after Pierre’s death, the further development of X-rays. She is a true inspiration to any woman.

Cake: Vanilla Bean Sour Cream Cake and Devil’s Food Cake, filled with french buttercream and chocolate fudge, iced in Swiss meringue buttercream and fondant. Hand painted Marie Curie, isomalt Erlenmeyer flask and test tube, and gelatin bubbles.
