Thu came to me a few weeks ago for a cake for her mother’s 60th birthday. We discussed the possibilities of sugar flowers or fresh flowers, and we decided on the former. It must be the sugar flower gods are calling upon me, that I have been able to work on my flower making skills of late!
Thu also made sure that the flowers were purple, as they were her mother’s favourite colour. She saw my flower pot cake with tulips from last year, so I’m reworking version 2016 with purple blooms. I made some tulips, roses, anemones and a very gorgeous and large peony. Whilst this peony is not only detailed, it lends itself to a very beautiful plum colour that I had to include in this pot pourri of flowers.
The cake went to a home that was all decorated in purple, with fresh purple blooms and purple balloons everywhere! Thu loved the cake, and asked her mum to have a look at it. She thanked me and gave me a hug, which really made all those late nights worthwhile.
