I’ve been toying with the idea of a ‘half-dressed’ cake for some time but I also wanted to incorporate some other rustic details. I absolutely love making tree trunk cakes thanks to the fabulous bark mould by FPC Sugarcraft so this formed the base; vanilla sponge cakes with a very thin layer of buttercream made up the upper tiers. And as a wedding cake, to me isn’t complete without flowers I arranged some spare sugar flowers and foliage along with dried lavender stems.
