Hello everyone, this is Katura, my sugar art piece for United Nations of Sugar Art collaboration, Be Team Red, Getting to Zero.

I decided to go for the hard reality with my piece, actually it wasn’t a choice, this woman cried so hard in my mind, I Needed to make her, show her pain to the world. Every day, 600 children are born with HIV, because the mother suffers from social pressure, has no money or resources are too far away.
Every day, babies and young children die, every day, a mothers heart gets broken in an unimaginable way. Medications are cheap, but not available for everyone. They cost about 40 cents a day. Together we can stop this, together we can bring the numbers to ZERO.

A coalition of sugar artists have come together to support The Global Fund in its fight against HIV, TB, and Malaria. We are so close to stopping the transmission of HIV from mother to child that we may actually have a Generation born without HIV!! But we are not there yet.
