This is my entry to the Patreon Cake Competiton – Fashion Inspired Cakes. For my inspiration I choose a Zuhair Murad dress. I loved the color contrast and the ruching on the dress with the reveal of a sheer floral pattern. All tiers are dummy cakes covered in fondant. For the bottom tier I applied a luster finish. The ruching effect on the cake which I used a mix of modeling chocolate and fondant with a gold shimmer dust applied before attaching to cake. This was my first attempt at the ruching technique. This was probably what took most of my time for this cake. The floral pattern is hand painted using airbrush colors. The gold leaves are made out of modeling chocolate without using a mold or template. The roses are gumpaste with a pink color wash and gold detail on the edges of the petals.
