To those of you who work with buttercream a lot, my hats off to you, I work almost exclusively with fondant and it is not easy to work with a medium that you don’t use regularly.
I made this rustic cake for a wedding this weekend, the cake features extra tall tiers, which i LOVE as it really adds a modern twist to the design. The cake is frosted in crusting buttercream and painted and textured to look like tree bark. I added some fondant lace, overpiped with royal icing (to give extra dimension) and some gorgeous real sunflowers.
