Do you know the outer-space-themed video game Destiny? I surely didn’t…until I got an order for a Destiny birthday cake, and a quick education on the subject was in order! I had to put a 3-D creation on the cake, so I choose to make a gun featured in the game known as the Hawkmoon (I thought it was pretty cool-looking!). I basically found a great photo of the gun on the internet, rolled up some black fondant, and with a razor blade (my new favorite tool…just ask my poor sliced-up fingers!), began sculpting away! And for the first time, I used chocolate ganache under my fondant, and it worked like a dream! (Although I admit I totally burnt my first batch…but I digress….). Also, paneled my fondant for the first time (thank you Christy Duffell Seguin for introducing me to paneling!!) So here is my Destiny themed birthday cake! Vanilla-almond cake, filled with chocolate ganache. Yum! Thank you so much for looking xx
