This is one of those cakes I had mixed feelings about. I wasn’t really a fan of the design, I don’t really get it, but it’s what was asked for & I was told the bride loved it & that it was the best cake they had ever eaten.
I was a little nervous about doing it as it was my first stacked buttercream cake & the weather was humid! I was happy with how smooth I was able to get each tier & was terrified to stack them!
The music around the bottom tier is sugar paper & is their wedding song. I was a bit disappointed in them as it looked more green than black to me but I don’t have my own printer & only have one local option to get them printed so I had to go with them. What a nightmare getting them off their backing but with lots of patience I got it.
Because of the weather I went with artificial branches rather than trying to make them. The wooden birds were supplied by the sister of the bride.
The bottom & top tiers were vanilla bean cake & the middle one was cocoa banana cake all covered with buttercream icing.
To transport the cake I used my Cake Porter from Innovative Sugarworks for the first time & was very happy with it.
