Roses and teacup cake

Lots of firsts for me with this cake. Made my own flower/gum paste for the roses, first tea cup and saucer and very first hand painting! So pleased with my painting, really sad I know as they are only little swirls really but the highest I ever got in art at school was 15%!
Struggled with wiring my flowers, I never seem to get the wires to set properly. I’ve used the edible glue and heating the wires before inserting techniques but I still find that some of the flowers fall off!! Any advice dear CD friends?

It’s very pretty. I put a little loop my wires and push them in to a little tear drop shape of paste. I then make sure that’s really dry before I carry on adding any petals. Once I’ve done about three petals I let it dry again before carrying on. That works for me so hope it helps x
