I was approached by my church friend to make a cake for her aunt who was celebrating her 60th birthday with grandeur. Her only request was to have orchids and I immediately knew that I had to try making the phalaenopsis Orchid which is my most favourite flower.

I used wafer paper to make the orchids, following both Danijela Pulcini’s and Stevi Auble’s tutorials. I have also used gold sugar lace and fondant vertical pleats to decorate the tiers which I thought added elegance to the cake.
