I was asked by my SIL for a powder pink polka dots and soft green chevron cake for my niece’s 3rd birthday a few weekends ago. And although I love this popular theme for girls, I was a bit concerned about being able to create a distinctive design as there are only so many ways to do polka dots and chevrons.

So I decided to pop the soft palette with some funky black outline flowers in playful colours.

In the end I am very happy with the design as I was able to add my own individuality to it. The colours are so versatile that I could not decide which Bakedrop to use so ended up taking pics of it with three different ones (see pics 2 & 3). I am still undecided as to which is my fave as they all help highlight different things!

I also was asked to try out some lovely new cutters by Ceri of Fancy Cakes by Linda which are made by FMM Sugarcraft. They were amazing to use and made making the birdhouse topper SO simple. The Chunky Funky letter cutters were perfect too for the name plaque. You can find these cutters and more in FCBL’s Facebook shop.
