This was a last minute rush order, & I was given free rein on the design by a poor sweet dad who had waited until the very last minute & was in quite the panic. I have always loved The Lion King movie. So given free rein & very limited time, I decided to indulge my new love of hand-painting versus trying to make toppers or cut out a million pieces of fondant for 2D characters.
He said his daughter loved Simba & Nala, so I put both their baby version & also one of my favorite scenes, when they reunite as adult lions. The topper is painted on gumpaste, the leaves are fondant hand-dusted for variegation, & the main cake is painted with a mixture of dusts & airbrush colors.
The cake is a White Velvet with White Chocolate buttercream filling.
