This is a 12 inch fruit cake which my customer had made and I was asked to decorate it for her mums special 80th birthday.
She gave me a copy of the beautiful painting you can see as inspiration, this was painted by the birthday girl herself and was entitled “Old Seville”, from this I chose to make a garden scene with old paving and stone walls. The base and top of the cake are hand imprinted to give the effect of old stone tiles, finished with airbrushing. The sides of the cake are decorated to look like old stone walls topped with tiny purple flowers and leaves.
The easel is hand sculpted and painted to look like wood, topped with an edible print of the painting. The stool is also hand sculpted to look like wood and has a hand sculpted paint pallet. The cake was finished off with a tiny paint pot and paint brushes.
