I think I took quite a lot on, in retrospect, in making my own wedding cake. We had a forties themed wedding in our garden. It was great fun to plan and all the guests have been telling me how much they loved the day, so all worth it.
As for the cake, I wanted a pale blue ombre effect with all my favourite flowers; paeonies, David Austin roses, ranunculus and freesia etc. Fran and I got up bright and early to go to the flower market to source real flowers to match those on the cake, we were like kids in a sweet shop.
